Asian countries dominated in immigration to Canada in 2020
The biggest number of new immigrants by nationalities in 2020 came from India, reaching 42,875 (23.3%), followed by China with 16,550 (9%) and the Philippines with 10,970 (5.9%) immigrants. As Indian-Canadians have more political power in Canada, India beat China over the number of newcomers to Canada. The United States was fourth with 6,380 newcomers (3.5%) and Nigeria was fifth with 6,345 (3.4%). The other countries in the top 10 were Pakistan, Syria, France, Iran, and Brazil.
