Canada India Foundation appeals for a relief package for international students

The Canada India Foundation has appealed to the government to release a relief package for international students at Canadian colleges and universities so that they do not have to worry about rent and groceries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Foreign students are mentally traumatized due to COVID-19. A large number of international students work part-time to make ends meet. However, amid the COVID-19 crisis, they do not have enough sources of income to pay their bills.

There has been a large increase in the number of international students in Canada in the last five years. About 600,000 foreign students are studying at educational institutions all over Canada.

As per one estimate, approximately 200,000 students are from India. Canada India Foundation Chair Anil Shah said that these students will play an important role in the Canadian economy as skilled workers in the upcoming years.
