Canadian Immigration Government’s New Approach towards Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has reverted to its original election procedures for its Parents and Grandparents sponsorship program.

According to the announcement made on August 20, 2018, the government of Canada has decided to take on the firs-come, first-served strategy to address the concerns in regard to the former lottery system’s fairness and transparency challenges.

Starting from 2019, the applications will be accepted in accordance with the promptness of submitting the application. In addition, it should be noted that the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has increased their Parents and Grandparents’ intake quota to 20,000 applications for the next upcoming year. This outlines that each applicant’s application will be taken by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada should the applicants apply early so their to have their application within the first 20,000 intakes.

At this time, the applicants who meet the requirements for this program are encouraged to complete their application, so they can proceed with submitting the prepared application packages immediately.
