Manitoba to reorganize the provincial immigration ministry
On January 5, 2021, the government of Manitoba announced some changes to the structure of the provincial government. The field of immigration will now be overseen by the Department for Advanced Education, Skills, and Immigration. The main goal of the new ministry is to “ensure greater linkages and alignment between the offerings of Manitoba’s advanced education institutions and the skills needed to equip the labour force of the future”. Among the other functions, the department will concentrate on offering new job opportunities for new immigrants in the province. It will also manage the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) in order to attract and welcome more newcomers to the province.
