Some students who receive funding from Global Affairs Canada will be eligible for PGWP

On January 27, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that effective now, foreign students that received funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP). According to the new International Education Strategy, GAC created a new program, the Study in Canada Scholarship, aiming to attract talent from a diverse range of countries to a diverse range of study destinations across Canada. Hence, the new instructions allow the recipients of the Study in Canada Scholarship to stay in Canada upon their graduation and to apply for an Open Work Permit.
