Syrian refugees received citizenship on the fifth anniversary of Operation Syrian Refugees
On December 10, 2020, on the fifth anniversary of the start of accepting Syrian refugees in Canada, a group of former Syrian refugees took part in an online citizenship ceremony. Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino said 29 Syrian refugees are among the more than 43,000 new Canadians who have attended online citizenship ceremonies since April. According to Mendicino, since the vert first flight on December 10, 2015, Canada welcomed about 73,000 Syrian refugees. Many of them have already become Canadian citizens.
